Grip Strength in Kettlebell Workouts
For practioners of tug of war and Brazilian jujitsu, a strong grip is so important- it can make or break your success in the sport, which is why it’s so important to make sure that you have a good grip. Kettlebell workouts are so useful for this, because all the exercises revolve around you lifting a cannonball with a handle attached to it.
So what tends to happen is that your grip strength improves drastically over time, and gets very strong.
In Brazilian jujitsu it’s important to have good grip in your hands for controlling the opponent’s wrist, this can be crucial in positions like when you’re at the bottom, and you’re fighting off a choke or submission. Having strong grips will allow you to defensively ward off a choke, and counter strike with your own submissions.
Obviously for tug of war I don’t need to explain to you why it’s so helpful to have good grip.
