Your skills as a virtual assistant are not enough to be successful as an independent contractor. You will need start up costs for equipment and utility services, for marketing, and to keep you afloat until you start generating enough income to pay those bills. There are a lot of virtual training courses where you can learn how to become a virtual assistant, and you would be wise to take advantage of them. Many of these courses include a coach to individually help you with the start up of you individual business. In these courses, you will learn how to create a business plan, how to identify and market yourself to your target market, develop a marketing plan for that market, and build a support system and network of other virtual assistants. These are only some of the things you need to do when you start your own virtual assistant business.
